This video presents the inside of a replica of the Tatra 87, a post-war Czechoslovakian car that is featured on many pages of a travel book we once found at a flea market in Berlin. The book documents a journey in this car by two travelers Jiří Hanzelka and Miroslav Zikmund through South Africa. Here it is used as a means to consider the relationship between theirs, ours and viewers experiences of travel; in particular: the experience of the world as filtered through 20th century automobile travel and photography.
The video was produced at USF (Artist in Residence) in Bergen, Norway. |
