In /mm the camera sets the basic tempo of the piece, moving one millimeter per frame. It moves like a machine, indifferent to the sets. As slight inconsistencies in scale and detail suggest, these models are not direct replicas of actual places, but have been built intuitively, as though from imagination or distant memory. The materials themselves have another history. They comprise familiar, often found objects, such as chewing gum, and pieces of Venetian blinds, which have been sensitively and playfully chosen to complicate our connection to the space |
