| The ancient Greek astronomer Ptolemy brilliantly solved the puzzle of the apparent backwards movements of certain planets, by proposing an elaborate system of ‘epicycles’ to describe the heavenly bodies movements around the earth. Unfortunately, his elegant design was based on an error: the geo-centric universe. This video is an attempt to consider how knowledge is established, how along the way it is difficult to decide what is illusion or concrete, what is changing or fixed. |
